  • Creative Healing Workshop: "Color your HeART"

Engage your heart, mind and hands to celebrate the life you share with your beloved animal companion through ADULT COLORING.

Join the AHELP Project community with guest Andrea Koehler from The Coloring Project to create a frameable adult coloring project to honor your special animal friend's life journey.

AHELP Director and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist Michelle DeHaven Nichols, M.S. will present, “Oh, Good Grief.” Education is power! From over 15 years of serving families in grief and bereavement, her experience has been that a better understanding of this process can help people who have animal family members who aging, in illness or who have passed onward.

At “Color your HeART,” each participant will choose a frameable coloring card that resonates with them, and may optionally add a poem or prose to accompany. They will spend intentional time during this guided remembrance of the positive contribution they each made to the other’s lives. Guests may choose to either to meditate/reflect, celebrate a life, or as a way to quiet their mind if they’re feeling stuck in a downward spiral of grief.

Please purchase a ticket, keeping in mind that proceeds go toward the cost of producing this event and AHELP's nonprofit mission to serve people and their pets. Tea, coffee, light sweets and snacks will be offered in keeping with the AHELP vision to build a like-minded community and for opportunities for guests to meet and share with understanding animal lovers.

  • Grief Recovery Support Group

"The key to recovery from grief is action, not time"
    - the Grief Recovery Method

Though a heightened understanding of grief can help, the cornerstone of the Grief Recovery Method is this:
"To heal from loss, you must first deal with your broken heart."
Our workshop will do all of this and more.

    YOU are not broken!
    You CAN DO THIS!
    We can help.

     grm-horiz-color-med.jpg

You will be taught and guided through the Grief Recovery Method's tools by Certified Grief Recovery Specialists: Animal Hospice Counselor-Educator and AHELP Project Director Michelle Nichols, M.S. and Certified Life Coach, DarylAnne Brooke. This is not a drop-in group. With the exception of skipping 4/24, YOU MUST ATTEND 9 CONSECUTIVE SESSIONS, to recieve the INAUGURAL GROUP SPECIAL. If you aren't interested in pet loss grief and bereavement, you can skip the first session and just attend sessions 2-9.

You'll better understand why grief surrounding pet loss builds upon unresolved past experiences. You'll be encouraged to consider loss of other animal and human loved ones or loss of a partner through separation or death. The Grief Recovery Method can also be used to address unresolved losses such as: death of a human loved one, separation of a spouse, unemployment, and loss of health. If you are like us, you may find that this action Method will provide you with tools to move toward healing and has similar effects as one-on-one therapy.

    Each week, you can expect:
    - To better appreciate grief as a normal and natural emotional response to loss.
    - To better understand your grief - education is power!
    - To learn techniques and tools you will work through outside of the group.
    - Time for you and your partner to share and practice the exercises.

    +++INAUGURAL GROUP SPECIAL+++
This group is limited to 10 guests, and your seat is reserved through payment in full of the entire $120 registration. YOU WILL BE REFUNDED HALF YOUR FEE ($60) if you complete all 8 (or 9) sessions and you complete the evaluation portion that's included in the scheduled time.

March 28 - Pet Loss is different - but the same! (optional pet loss considerations)
    April 4 ,11, 18, 24
